Niche Woodworking is a privately owned business specialising in handcrafted joinery. From kitchen essentials and chopping boards to bespoke furniture and restorations, every piece is made with care, precision, and a focus on lasting quality.

We also specialise in kitchen and bench top updates, helping you make small changes that create a big impact. From new bench tops to fresh fittings, we provide practical and stylish solutions.

Meet the Maker

 

I’m a qualified joiner with a deep passion for woodworking that started in my first Tech class at age 10. I love designing projects and turning ideas into reality, whether it’s a small gift or a large furniture build.

​

I grew up in Ashburton, Canterbury, and have a great appreciation for small town life and the country surroundings. Being in the heart of the South Island makes it easy to travel and explore, and in my spare time, I enjoy camping by beautiful lakes with my partner.

​

While running Niche Woodworking, I also work full-time at Lysaghts, a horse coach and trailer company in Ashburton. I manage the joinery department from design to completion, specialising in high end living areas within trailers. These include kitchenettes, pull-out beds, seating, storage, and in some, even bathrooms, all designed to be a home on wheels for hobbies such as horses or dirt bikes.

Even with a full time job, I dedicate my time off to designing and building custom joinery for Niche Woodworking. From cheese boards to bespoke furniture and restoration projects, my goal is to continue growing the business by creating unique designs and working closely with customers to bring their ideas to life.​​​
